yea!!...kids clothes. that is the current project of the week. and how interesting about the cowboy boots...my son has a pair that are just a bit too big and i have been wondering if they could pass for "church shoes" this fall and winter..i mean, i know they could, but we live in the midwest (almost the south) ...not the west. but i'm going for it :)

thanks for the motivation to really clean out their closet!!!

This reminded me of a song my children love to sing:
"Black socks they never get dirty,
the longer you wear them the blacker they get.
Sometimes I think of the laundry,
but something inside me says don't wash them yet...
not yet...not yet..."

Yay, another post! And you turned on comments so we can thank you for being wonderful! Way to downsize. Black socks--perfect! I'm not a super duper minimalist (yet) but my kids have had 5 outfits for years--no one ever guesses. It's still plenty of clothes. They really have 5 shirts, only 2 or 3 pairs of pants. Two Sunday outfits. I have 3 girls right in a row and nothing gets passed down, but that's ok. If I could let go of my pride they really could get away with less. Of course!

So glad you're still around! I got the idea somewhere that you have used the K12 program for home school. If so, could you tell what you think about it? If not, just forget I ever said a thing. :)

Lara said: We tried it for a while. It's really good if you want a free "school at home" program.

I agree with Jana, I'm on my iPhone right now :(

Thought this link might help your washing line problem. Here in Oz there's not many houses that don't have an outside clothesline. I hate my dryer too.

It's been a while since I've looked at your blog and I guess I haven't missed much considering your infrequent postings! I'm living in Peru and I highly recommend that everyone have the chance to live in a country like it! I've always wanted to live on an all cash system but my debit card was always so convenient. Now, I live on an all cash system because that's the way it works here for most things. I have been a wanna be better eater for years and now I am eating wonderful fresh veggies and fruits each day because they are plentiful and going to the market 2-3 times a week is necessary (until you live here you may not believe that!). I have been trying to mineralize for years! My friends all say how "organized" I am but they never fully understand it was order I was seeking not necessarily organization! We left behind the majority of our things and I was soooooo embarrassed about how much stuff was packed away into long term storage, given away, or thrown away. Good luck in all your do with you and your family. I wish you the best and hope you find the balance and peace in your life that you are striving for.

Thanks for the list! I like the idea of going into the study from the front porch. That's a great idea. I don't like having shoes and coats by the front door though.

I have missed the inspiration your posts always seemed to give me, but I certainly understand your reasoning. I'm making big changes for my family this year and it has been kind of painful for everyone, but we're reaping great rewards for cutting back and centering on home and family.

One of my favorite things about you is that when you realize you believe something to be true, you make changes in your life to reflect what you have learned. You're a great example and I have appreciated having your insights to learn from and am sad to see you go.

I wish you the best of luck making all your dreams come true!
